Vice President Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang has arrived in Wa to begin a series of official engagements in the Upper West Region, including participation in the Sankana community festival scheduled for Saturday.

She was received on arrival by the Minister for Labour, Jobs and Employment, Abdul-Rashid Pelpuo; the Upper West Regional Minister, Charles Lwanga Puozuing; and members of the Regional Coordinating Council.

As part of her visit, the Vice President paid a courtesy call on the Wa Naa, His Royal Majesty Alhaji Fuseini Seidu Pelpuo VI, at his palace to formally announce her presence and engage the traditional leadership.

During the visit, chiefs and elders of the Wa Traditional Area welcomed her warmly, presenting a number of development concerns while also commending ongoing road infrastructure projects in the region.

In response, Vice President Opoku-Agyemang expressed appreciation for the reception and assured the traditional council that their concerns had been duly noted. She also acknowledged their recognition of government interventions already underway.

She further called for sustained collaboration between traditional authorities and government, emphasising the importance of collective efforts in advancing development and improving livelihoods across the country.

The Vice President is expected to participate in the Sankana festival and engage key stakeholders as part of efforts to deepen government’s connection with local communities in the region.
