The Postal and Courier Services Regulatory Commission has impounded more than 100 motorbikes belonging to unlicensed courier riders operating in Accra, in a major enforcement exercise targeting non-compliant delivery services.

The operation follows the temporary suspension of an earlier nationwide crackdown in August 2025 by the Ministry of Communication, Digital Technology, and Innovations.

The Public Relations Manager of the Commission, Nii Yeboah Burgesson, made this known in an interview on Channel One TV on April 21, 2026.

"Roughly more than 100 motorbikes have been impounded. We are working in collaboration with the Ghana Police Service. We have a Commission though, but the authority to intercept and impound motorbikes is vested in the Ghana Police Service. So, they work with us to get the motorbikes," he remarked.

Nii Yeboah Burgesson stressed the need for courier companies and individual riders to register, obtain valid operating licences, and be integrated into the national logistics monitoring platform, the Integrated Courier and Logistics Management System (ICOLMS-Ghana).

He said the affected riders were issued a spot fine of GH¢600.

He further noted that some of the affected riders have since begun the licensing process.

“We are not here to penalise anyone. We are just here to enforce the law. So, this is an opportunity for you (unlicensed courier riders) to go on the platform and then commence your registration processes,” he said.

The enforcement forms part of efforts to streamline the courier and delivery sector and ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
