Social media users have expressed shock and concern over the poor condition of police quarters after a viral video showed residents attempting to douse a fire in one of the rooms at the barracks.

What initially appeared to be a response to an emergency quickly drew attention for another reason; the visibly deteriorating state of the housing facilities.

In a post shared on X on April 10, 2026, residents, alongside some police officers, were seen making frantic efforts to contain what appeared to be the early stages of a fire outbreak at the Juaso Police Barracks.

“Residents, joined by some police officers, were seen fetching water in a desperate effort to douse flames after a fire broke out at the Juaso Police Barracks,” the post read.

However, beyond the fire incident, the video exposed the living conditions of some police personnel; conditions many social media users described as far from decent.

“Wooow, this is a police barracks in 2026? Wooow, wooow,” a user identified as BreakForth 🇬🇭 (@GideonDebrah) lamented.

“We cannot expect peak performance and integrity from our police force when their living conditions are this precarious. Our officers deserve dignified housing that reflects the importance of their service. Their place of stay is bad,” another user, Mr Kwabla (@mr_kwabla), added.

The incident has since sparked broader conversations online about the welfare of security personnel and the need for improved accommodation for officers.
