During the engagement, the delegation briefed the Asantehene on plans for the construction of a 198.7-kilometre expressway linking Accra to Kumasi, a project expected to significantly ease travel between the two major cities and boost economic activity.

They also outlined plans to rehabilitate sections of the existing highway to improve safety and traffic flow.

The team further highlighted the role of the Ghana Armed Forces in the initial feasibility phase of the expressway project, noting that the military’s engineering expertise will support early-stage assessments and planning.

Discussions also touched on ongoing and planned road works within the Ashanti Region, particularly the Suame Interchange, which remains a critical infrastructure project aimed at easing congestion in Kumasi and its surrounding areas.

The visit formed part of efforts to keep traditional authorities informed and engaged on key national development projects, especially those with significant impact on the Ashanti Region.

Other members of the delegation included Chief of Defence Staff, William Agyapong, and Director of Engineering Services, GAF, Colonel Jonas Wiafe
