Former Minister of Finance, Ken Ofori-Atta, has been released from detention by the US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) on health grounds, according to emerging details shared by legal practitioner and activist Oliver Barker-Vormawor.
Barker-Vormawor disclosed that Ofori-Atta was granted bail set at $65,000 following concerns about his medical condition.
He cited sources within the US Department of Justice as the basis for his claims, which he shared in a Facebook post on April 10, 2026.
According to him, while the former minister’s ill health influenced the decision to grant bail, US authorities still consider him a potential flight risk.
