Head coach of FC Samartex 1996, Christopher Ennin, believes tactical discipline and a clear understanding of his opponent were key to his side’s victory over Asante Kotoko SC in Kumasi.
Samartex secured a 2–1 win over Kotoko at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium on Tuesday morning, April 7, 2026, in a Ghana Premier League fixture that had initially been rained off on Monday, April 6, 2026.
Speaking after the match, Ennin revealed that he had carefully studied Kotoko and knew exactly how to disrupt their rhythm.
“I always enjoy playing against Kotoko in Kumasi. I remember beating their ten players during my days with Berekum Chelsea. I know how to frustrate Kotoko and make them play to our rhythm. We forced them to adapt to our strengths, and it led to the goal. I’ve studied the team closely; for me, it’s all about tactical discipline,” he said.

Ennin’s tactical approach paid off as Samartex executed their game plan effectively. Christian Boateng opened the scoring in the 54th minute, before Emmanuel Mammah added a second late in the game to put the visitors in firm control.
Kotoko were handed a late opportunity to reduce the deficit after Elvis Kyei-Baffuor was fouled in the penalty area, resulting in a red card for Samartex midfielder Samed Kyei. However, Kotoko captain Samba O’Neil missed from the spot before Albert Amoah eventually pulled one back in stoppage time.
