One of Ghanaian businessman Ibrahim Mahama’s private jets is set to be converted into an air ambulance to serve the public, in what is expected to be a major boost to the country’s emergency medical response capacity.
In a video shared on Facebook on Friday, April 3, 2026, the aircraft, popularly known as the Dzata Jet, will undergo specialised modifications and be fitted with advanced life‑support and medical care systems to handle critical emergency cases nationwide.
"The aircraft (N604EP), which left Ghana today, April 3, 2026, is expected to serve Ghanaians in critical medical emergency situations and will be fitted with the necessary life-support and care equipment to support its new mandate," the captioned video said.
This follows Ibrahim Mahama, owner of Engineers and Planners, taking delivery of a new Bombardier Global 6500, acquired in 2024 but delivered in March 2026 after undergoing modifications. The jet arrived at the Accra International Airport on March 3, 2026.

Speaking after taking delivery of the new aircraft, Mahama explained that the decision to convert his previous aircraft into a medical vehicle was motivated by the need to improve access to emergency healthcare.
“This is for every Ghanaian, not for me alone,” he said, stressing that the air ambulance would be available for all citizens in times of need.
The move, however, is seen as part of efforts to repurpose his former jet for public benefit.
