Investigative journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas has strongly rejected claims by anti-corruption campaigner Vitus Azeem that he has shelved an alleged exposé on Ghana’s Parliament, describing the assertions as false and baseless.
The rebuttal, issued by Tiger Eye PI on Facebook on April 2, 2026, comes after Vitus Azeem questioned why Anas had not published an alleged investigation on Ghana’s Parliament.

The anti-corruption campaigner further suggested that portions of the work had been previewed by some Members of Parliament.
Responding to the claims, Tiger Eye PI stated that the allegations are entirely fabricated, adding that neither Anas nor his team had ever made such claims.
“From the outset, Tiger Eye PI places on record that these claims are entirely false and contrived. Neither Anas nor any associate of Tiger Eye PI has ever made the assertions attributed to them by Mr Azeem. The claims remain entirely a figment of Mr. Azeem's imagination, and we challenge him to provide evidence that any such statements were ever made by Anas,” the statement said.
Tiger Eye PI further challenged Vitus Azeem to substantiate his claims with proof, particularly regarding the alleged involvement of lawmakers.
It insisted that no such investigation had been shown to any Member of Parliament.
“We challenge Mr Azeem to provide proof that Tiger Eye PI concluded investigations into Parliament and showed it to some Members of Parliament. He should, among other things, mention the names of the alleged Members of Parliament who previewed the said investigations,” the statement added.
Describing the allegations as serious and unfortunate, the organisation expressed concern over the nature of the claims, especially given Azeem’s reputation in the anti-corruption space.
“It is distressing that a person of Mr Azeem’s standing would make such spurious claims without first verifying and authenticating them, particularly with Tiger Eye PI, especially given that we share a common vision of fighting corruption,” the statement noted.
Tiger Eye PI also warned that such claims, if left unchallenged, could mislead the public and damage Anas’ reputation.
“If left unchecked, such claims risk crystallizing into perceived evidence of wrongdoing by Anas—an assertion we categorically reject,” it stressed.
Addressing public interest in alleged corruption within Parliament, the organisation acknowledged the concerns but clarified that such interest alone does not amount to evidence or confirm the existence of any investigation.
It emphasised that decision to undertake investigations remain solely within its mandate.
“However, such interest alone is not sufficient to trigger an investigation by Tiger Eye PI, nor does it in any way constitute evidence of any ongoing or concluded investigation,” the statement explained.
Tiger Eye PI further criticised the claims as damaging to the work of investigative journalists, highlighting the risks involved in anti-corruption reporting.
It also referenced the sacrifices made by journalists in the line of duty.
“These claims undermine the significant risks undertaken and the substantial resources committed by Tiger Eye PI in exposing corruption. They also disregard the sacrifices of investigative journalists, including the late Ahmed Suale,” it said.

The organisation went on to describe Vitus Azeem’s comments as reckless in the absence of evidence.
“In the absence of any evidence from Mr. Azeem, we are constrained to characterize his claims as reckless and irresponsible,” the statement said.
