Former Accra Hearts of Oak Board Member, Isaac Tetteh, popularly known as TT Brothers, has said that Black Stars coach Otto Addo should have been allowed to lead the team to the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
According to him, the former Borussia Dortmund scout managed to qualify the national team for the Mundial, which many did not expect given the team’s performance at the time.
He argued that since Otto Addo had been with the team for a long period and the tournament was only a few months away, he should have been given the opportunity to continue.
GFA sacks Otto Addo
TT Brothers condemned the timing of the decision, insisting that the coach was not entirely responsible for the team’s struggles.
“You see, it's the wrong timing. Once the man was able to qualify the national team for the World Cup, and we believed in him, we should have done everything possible for him to take the team there.
“When he comes back and there’s a problem, everybody will know that there’s a problem. But the timing now, to ask the coach to leave, is wrong. It’s not good. And anybody who understands football will know there’s a problem somewhere,” he said.
The GFA decided to sack Otto Addo after the team was humiliated by Austria 5-1 and also lost 2-1 to Germany in the March 2026 international friendlies.
