Former Communications Director of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Ibrahim Sannie Daara, has urged the association to be circumspect in their search for a new Black Stars coach.

According to him, the GFA must take its time to conduct a thorough process to secure a competent coach who can lead the team to glory in tournaments and win laurels.

He also stressed that the focus should not only be on the 2026 World Cup but also on subsequent tournaments such as the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), as the nation has endured a long trophy drought.

Speaking in an interview with Citi News, Sannie cautioned the GFA against rushing to hire a new coach, warning that the same challenges would persist if the process is not handled carefully.

“While we are looking for a coach now, we must also think about the future. We have a very young squad with the potential to do well. Most of the players are in their early 20s, so we need a coach who will not only focus on the World Cup but can also stay long-term and stabilize the team for sustained success,” he said.

This comes after the GFA released an official statement on March 31, 2026, announcing that they had parted ways with Otto Addo and expressed appreciation for his efforts with the team.
