French footballer Kylian Mbappé’s recent knee injury has triggered public uproar after claims that he was given a wrong diagnosis.
The attacker began experiencing knee problems in 2025, when he was treated by Real Madrid’s medical staff and was said to have recovered. However, the injury recurred, forcing him to miss two matches in January and three games in March 2026.
Realising the recurring nature of the problem, the Les Bleus skipper traveled to Paris to consult a specialist he had previously worked with.

According to French media outlet RMC, the specialist switched the treatment approach, which helped stabilise his condition.
Reports indicate that Mbappé was furious after discovering that Madrid’s medical staff had failed to provide the best treatment to resolve the issue.
Since joining France for the international break, Mbappé stated that he no longer feels pain: “I have recovered 100 percent. I had the opportunity to receive a thorough diagnosis in Paris. Together we were able to draw up a plan to get back to my best form at Real Madrid and in the run-up to the World Cup.”
It later emerged in the media that Real Madrid’s medical team initially diagnosed the wrong knee. After examining his right knee, they declared it fine, while the actual injury was in his left knee and went untreated.
Mbappé returned to play briefly but aggravated the injury, eventually seeking external treatment in Paris to resolve the crisis.
The player is reportedly angry with his club’s medical team, believing that their negligence could have jeopardised his chances of playing in the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Amid the allegations, Real Madrid has yet to comment, while the medical staff remain accused of mishandling the situation.
