National Chairman hopeful of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), John Boadu, has called on Parliament to probe the sale of 18 tonnes of gold by the current government.
According to him, the government must explain the reason behind the sale when all indicators pointed to the fact that gold prices were going higher, and there was no need to sell at the time they sold the gold.
He made this call while addressing pressmen.
“For the first time in our country’s history, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s government was able to accumulate gold reserve but the current government has sold some of the reserved gold at a lower price and they are now going to buy it back at a higher price."
"For me I think it is insider trading and I call on Parliament to institute an investigation so that we know who was behind the sale of the gold at a lower price and those who want to now buy it at a higher price,” he said.
