As part of efforts to strengthen operations and expand capacity, indigenous mining firm Engineers and Planners Co. Ltd. has dispatched thirty (30) semi-knockdown Caterpillar 785D Dump Truck units to its operational base in Tarkwa.

The consignment captured in viral videos on Sunday March 22, 2026, forms part of a broader order of high-capacity dump trucks, with this batch representing the final delivery to the site. The phased deployment of the equipment reflects a strategic effort to scale up fleet capacity and enhance efficiency in mining operations.

The move also underscores E&P’s continued investment in strengthening its logistics and haulage capabilities, positioning the company to improve output and operational performance at the Tarkwa site.

The Caterpillar 785D Dump Truck is a key asset in large-scale surface mining, designed for high productivity and efficiency in material haulage. Its addition to the fleet is expected to significantly improve turnaround times and overall operational throughput.

E&P’s investment in heavy-duty mining equipment dates back to 2002. In 2018, the company committed an estimated $650 million to its Tarkwa and Damang mine operations, with plans to invest an additional $1.2 billion in these mines.

The move highlights a broader trend of sustained capital inflows into Ghana’s mining sector over the years.

Meanwhile, Ghana’s mining industry continues to attract both local and international investors, driven by a relatively stable regulatory environment, rich mineral reserves, and strong global demand for gold and other resources.

Beyond equipment acquisition, mining firms are increasingly investing in infrastructure development, workforce training, and technological upgrades, factors that collectively enhance operational resilience and productivity.

The arrival of the final batch of dump trucks not only strengthens E&P’s fleet but also reinforces the scale of capital required to remain competitive in today’s mining landscape.

The Tarkwa mining enclave remains one of Ghana’s most strategic hubs, and E&P’s latest equipment deployment is expected to support increased production capacity and contribute to the sector’s continued growth.
