Senegal responds to CAF over 2025 AFCON win nullification
“I am very excited, very happy, and it takes my mind back to when we were traveling together, when our flight nearly had an accident on the way to Gabon. I don’t want to use the word ‘crash’ because it’s too strong, but yes, it was close,” he revealed in a viral video shared by Ibrahim Sannie Daara on March 20, 2026.
He went on to reflect on the bond he shared with his teammates, “I really enjoyed being with all of you—talking about the past, the great things, the moments when we cried together after losing games, and when we celebrated victories together.”
Abedi Pele also expressed gratitude to those who attended the gathering and encouraged more frequent reunions.
“For us to have dinner together and see some of the old guys is amazing. You all know I travel a lot and I’m very busy, so I don’t often get the chance to see you. But today has been special. I’ve already spoken to Tony about this—we should make sure these kinds of meetings happen more often,” he said.
