President John Dramani Mahama has appealed to Muslims, to sustain the values of Ramadan beyond the celebration of Eid-ul-Fitr, describing the occasion as a reminder of discipline, compassion and unity.

He made this remark during his speech at the Independence Square on Friday, March 20,2026.

He stressed that Eid should not signify the end of the spiritual journey observed during Ramadan, but rather its continuation in everyday life.

“My brothers and sisters, Eid is not only a celebration, it is a call to continuity. Let us carry forward the spirit of Ramadan in how we treat one another, in how we serve our communities, in how we uphold justice and fairness,” he said.

The President urged Muslims to remain guided by compassion for the vulnerable, kindness toward neighbours and integrity in their daily lives.

He noted that the values of sacrifice, humility and self-discipline cultivated during Ramadan must extend beyond the fasting period.

President Mahama also acknowledged Muslims in Ghana and across the world for successfully completing the holy month, describing Eid-ul-Fitr as a moment of thanksgiving to Allah.

“Today is a day of gratitude for the strength, patience and faith that carried us through Ramadan,” he added.

He also noted Ghana’s long-standing tradition of peaceful coexistence, stating that the country’s religious diversity remains a source of strength rather than division.

“Our diversity of faith and culture is not a weakness; it is our strength. Muslims and Christians celebrate each other’s holy days and coexist as one people. This harmony is a precious gift, and we must protect it,” he said.
