During the opening of the Ghana AgroTech Fair 2026 at Independence Square, President John Dramani Mahama made a notable gesture in support for cultural performers.
While a cultural troupe was entertaining the audience, the Minister of Trade and Industry, Elizabeth Adjare, showed appreciation by giving the group money.
The President then called on the minister to add more notes to support the performers.
After receiving the contribution, one of the dancers climbed onto the stage to perform directly in front of the President.
A security personnel attempted to block him but President Mahama intervened, instructing them to allow the dancer to continue his performance.
Speaking later as the special guest at the opening ceremony, themed “Transforming Agribusiness through Local Innovation and Technology,” President Mahama emphasised the importance of platforms such as the AgroTech Fair.
He noted that these events go beyond exhibitions, serving as vital links between key sectors of the economy.

“Events such as this do more than just showcase machinery and technology; they connect ideas to enterprise, research to industry, and innovation to investment. In doing so, they help transform agriculture from a sector of survival into a sector of opportunity, productivity, and national prosperity,” he stated.
The President further highlighted that the fair comes at a crucial time in Ghana’s development journey.
