The family members of the slain taxi driver in Tetegu near Weija in the Greater Accra Region have expressed deep frustration after a court hearing on Wednesday, March 11, 2026, was adjourned to March 24, 2026.

According to the relatives, the case has been repeatedly adjourned and constantly told to return at a later date.

They lamented that they are tired of being asked to return each time without any clear progress on the case.

The family also revealed that they have been eager to see the face of the policewoman accused of shooting their loved one, but they have consistently been prevented from doing so.

Maa Yaa, the widow of the slain driver, together with other family members, were captured in a video outside the courtroom visibly angry and raining curses on the policewoman accused of the shooting, whose face they say they have been prevented from seeing.

“You will never have peace. Your identity has been concealed, and we cannot even identify you. The God in heaven is my greatest judge. God will punish you and your entire generation. If, as a woman, you were able to shoot a man dead, and leave his family behind, then truly God will punish you. You will never have peace because God will speak for us,” they said.

Background

The late taxi driver, Kwesi Dada, was allegedly shot dead by a policewoman on January 19, 2026.

In an interview with Yaw, brother of the deceased, on GhanaWeb TV on January 22, 2026, he said that he was informed around 4 am on Tuesday, January 20, 2026, that his brother had been shot and taken to the Accra Central Police Station.

“When we arrived, we were told Kwasi Dada had been shot and his body taken to the Police Hospital. The suspect had been apprehended at the scene,” he said.

Yaw said his brother had been hired for a trip from Dansoman to Kasoa but made a U-turn into Tetegu, where the shooting occurred.

I believe a misunderstanding led to her shooting him three times, causing him to die in his car,” he added.

CID officers reportedly found bullets in Kwasi Dada’s car.

“Even if my brother had wronged her, why did she not aim for his legs or hands instead of killing him?” Yaw questioned.
