GoldBod Jewellery’s sponsorship of this year’s edition of Women of Valour event, organised by Ghanaian media personality Nana Aba Anamoah continues to stir debate among Ghanaians.
Meanwhile, the subsidiary of the Ghana Gold Board in their reaction to public debate on the matter, came out to clarify that the sponsorship was not monetary in nature but a discount on jewellery pieces by some participants of the event.
However, some grassroots members and supporters of the ruling NDC government have joined the debate questioning why they have not received adequate support from the ruling NDC government, but such a gesture could be extended to a private initiative.
GhanaWeb TV hit the streets of Accra to gauge the mood of the public on the issue.
While some respondents welcomed the sponsorship as a positive step, others felt the support could have been channelled into supporting local businesses, particularly cocoa farmers and party loyalists.
