President John Dramani Mahama has shared a touching account of his wife, First Lady Lordina Mahama, during the valedictory and retirement service in honour of Rev Joseph Baisie and Patricia Baisie at the Fountain of Glory Assemblies of God Church, East Legon.
President Mahama recounted how Lordina stepped in to care for Rev Baisie following the passing of his first wife.
In his words, she “adopted” him as her second husband and took it upon herself to provide comfort during his time of grief.
He revealed that Lordina personally cooked for the pastor, preparing meals such as light soup, palmnut soup, and jollof rice.
“After the tragedy of losing his first wife, Lordina adopted him and made him her second husband. I would go into the kitchen and see her preparing food, and when I asked who it was for, she would say, ‘It’s for Rev Baisie.’”
"For many years, until Mama Patricia came into the scene, Lordina was the one cooking for him,” President Mahama said.
The disclosure drew warm reactions from the congregation, highlighting the deep bonds of friendship and faith that have characterised the relationship between the Mahamas and the Baisies.
The service itself was a celebration of Rev Baisie’s decades of ministry alongside his wife, marking the end of an era and the beginning of a new chapter.
