Joyce Bawah Mogtari, Presidential Advisor and Special Aide to President John Dramani Mahama, has described Ghana’s 69th Independence Day celebration as a moment of national pride, reflection and renewed commitment to the country’s development.
In a message following the March 6 commemorations, she said the occasion was a significant national event that meant different things to many Ghanaians—ranging from nostalgia and pride to reflection on the country’s journey over the past 69 years.
According to her, John Dramani Mahama described the day as a sacred moment and a testament to the resilience of the Ghanaian people.
She noted that in his commemorative address, President Mahama called on citizens to stand up for Ghana and work together to build a stronger nation.
The President, she said, also reaffirmed his commitment to improving the country’s economic situation, pledging to work tirelessly to stabilise the economy and implement his administration’s agenda to reset and restore growth.
Bawah Mogtari added that President Mahama acknowledged the contributions of Ghana’s forebears and past presidents who had played significant roles in the country’s development.
She further said the ceremony, which featured performances by school children and displays by the Ghana Armed Forces, evoked a strong sense of patriotism and national pride.
The Presidential Advisor also commended government officials, staff of the Presidency, security agencies, protocol officers and members of the media for their roles in ensuring the success of the Independence Day celebrations.
