In many cases, they have contributed more to our stagnation than to progress. The most common story we hear is land being sold to multiple buyers while the money disappears into private pockets.
Even the Asantehene—given the enormous influence, prestige, and wealth tied to that office, including connections to Ashanti Gold—how much measurable improvement has actually been made in the lives of ordinary people?
In my honest opinion, about 99% of chiefs add little value to national development today. If they truly believe they have wisdom to offer, the National House of Chiefs can simply submit their recommendations to the committee.
This idea that you must sit on a committee before you can contribute is a typical Ghanaian mindset. Anyone with something meaningful to say can contact the review committee and present their input.
Respect is not automatic. Respect is earned through action and impact.
