The Member of Parliament for Mpraeso, Davis Opoku Ansah, has recounted how businessman Ibrahim Mahama offered to airlift him abroad for medical treatment following a near-fatal accident in February 2020.
His comments come in reaction to reports that Ibrahim Mahama is converting his old private jet into an air ambulance to support nationwide emergency response efforts.

Sharing his experience on his Facebook page on March 4, 2026, the lawmaker revealed that at the time of the accident, a close friend received an unexpected call from the businessman.
Detailing the call, the lawmaker stated that Ibrahim Mahama offered his private jet to be used to transport him out of the country for medical attention.
“In February 2020, after a near fatal accident, a close friend of mine received an unexpected call. It was Ibrahim Mahama. He asked that the hospital be informed to prepare me to be evacuated out of the country on his private jet,” he stated.
According to Opoku, the gesture demonstrated the businessman’s compassion and readiness to support others in critical moments.
“It was a moment that revealed the depth of his kindness and readiness to help when it truly mattered,” he added.
Commending the reported decision to convert the aircraft into a flying ambulance, Davis Opoku Ansah described the move as inspiring and timely.
“Today, seeing him dedicate his old jet to be converted into a lifesaving air ambulance for nationwide emergency response is both inspiring and commendable,” he noted.
He further stressed that such acts underscore the essence of leadership and patriotism.
“Acts like this remind us that leadership and patriotism are often expressed through quiet generosity and service to others.

“If he has made this commitment to support emergency medical care in Ghana, then it is only right that we wish him well and pray for God’s continued blessings upon him and this noble initiative. Ghana needs more acts of compassion and national service like this,” he said.
