Daniel Boakye, the 21-year-old Ghanaian who made news headlines after recording a video mocking the police of the United Kingdom (UK) following his second escape from lawful custody, has reportedly been rearrested.

According to multiple reports, the individual who absconded from the UK on February 15, 2026, after escaping police custody at Lewisham Hospital, was arrested by the French law enforcement authorities on March 2, 2026.

The London Metropolitan Police Service is reported to have stated that the arrest followed a tip-off that the accused person was in a small commune of roughly 5,000 inhabitants located within the forested region near Rennes, France.

The police stated that it is working with the French authorities to get the accused person back into the UK.

It also indicated that the 21-year-old was allegedly smuggled out of the UK in a lorry after he escaped custody in February 2026.

It is therefore looking into how the alleged smuggling happened and the people involved in it.

After his escape, a video posted on Instagram appears to show Boakye, who uses the drill name dsavv, performing in front of a screen featuring a newspaper story about his first escape.

The song includes the lyrics "I just broke out of jail like Modie," referring to a character from the TV series Top Boy, and brags about being "fresh home," champagne, and cannabis.

Boakye was jailed for six years and five months in 2023 for being part of a robbery gang that held victims at knifepoint to get their phone passcodes in order to steal a total of £115,000 of cryptocurrency, as well as using bank details to pay for taxis and top-up cards.
