'Michael was more than just a brother' – Twin of Ghanaian teen killed in UK speaks

Michael Ababio was stabbed outside Foleshill Library in Coventry

The twin brother of Michael Ababio, the 18-year-old Ghanaian who was stabbed to death in Coventry, United Kingdom, has paid a heartbreaking tribute to his “second half.”

Ababio died after sustaining stab wounds during a disorder outside Foleshill Library on Broad Street, according to the West Midlands Police.

In a tribute released through the police on Tuesday, February 24, 2026, his twin brother described the deep bond they shared.

“He aligned with everything that I liked. Words cannot express the pain we are all feeling right now,” he said on behalf of the family.

Reflecting on their connection they shared, he said, “Most people won’t know what it is like to have a twin, but I do. Michael was more than just a brother; he was my second half.

“You will be greatly missed. Our family will never be the same, but we hope you're in a better place now."

Meanwhile, the police has confirmed that a 19-year- old man who was found nearby with stab wounds was taken to hospital and later arrested on suspicion of murder.

Michael Ababio was fatally injured outside Foleshill Library on Broad Street at about 9:40pm on Sunday February 24, 2026.

He was pronounced dead in hospital on Monday,February 24, 2026, West Midlands Police said.
