The Chairperson of the People’s National Party (PNP), Janet Asana Nabla, has taken a swipe at Ghanaian men over their reactions to a Russian national who secretly recorded private encounters with some local women.

Speaking on Joy Prime on Tuesday, February 17, 2026, she argued that the outrage from men is misplaced.

She said the issue points to a societal problem and the failure of religious leaders, who are mostly males, to teach sexually active young men and women about purity.

Russian Embassy responds to outrage over viral videos

“People are not being taught proper conduct in churches and mosques. That is why when this Russian guy came and did so many things to women, men complained, but I told them to shut up.

"Most religious bodies are dominated by men, about 90 to 99%, and often these male leaders fail to teach sexual purity because some pastors and church leaders want to take advantage of girls. Teaching these principles is important not only for protecting women, but also for one’s spiritual growth,” Nabla said.

A Russia national identified as Trahov filmed encounters with women and circulated them online without their consent.

The videos have since sparked widespread outrage online, with many condemning the invasion of privacy of the women, and calling for stricter enforcement of online consent laws.
