The Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin, has directed the Business Committee of Parliament to schedule the Human Sexual Rights and Family Values Bill 2025, popularly referred to as the Anti-LGBTQ+ Bill for consideration when the House reconvenes.

The directive follows the submission of a Financial Impact Analysis report, which concluded that the bill will not place any financial burden on the Consolidated Fund, a constitutional requirement for legislation to proceed.

In a formal communication to Parliament on Tuesday, February 10, 2026, Speaker Bagbin said the bill has satisfied all procedural and constitutional requirements under the Standing Orders of the House.

“The bill has gone through all the necessary processes in accordance with the Standing Orders of the House. I, therefore, direct that the Business Committee schedules the bill to be presented to the House for consideration,” he stated.

The bill seeks to criminalise LGBTQ+-related activities and has generated intense public debates since it was first introduced.

In the same communication, the Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin, also directed that the Constitution of Ghana (Amendment) Bill 2025 be reintroduced to Parliament.

The bill had earlier lapsed following the dissolution of the 8th Parliament.
