The Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Integrated Aluminium Development Corporation (GIADEC), Reindorf Twumasi Ankrah, has disclosed that GIADEC, in partnership with the Tema Development Company (TDC) and ARISE Integrated Industrial Platforms, will soon commence the development of a major strategic national asset in the form of a large-scale industrial park.

Ankrah explained at a media briefing with selected senior journalists and editors that the project is not a land sale arrangement but a major industrialisation intervention aligned with government’s economic reset agenda and its vision of building a 24-hour economy.

He noted that government directed GIADEC and TDC to develop a large-scale industrial park aimed at driving job creation, attracting global investment, and building a modern industrial base centred on aluminium processing and manufacturing.

The planned industrial park will be developed on approximately 122.7 hectares of land within the Tema Heavy Industrial Area, specifically on TDC lands. It will serve as a central hub for midstream and downstream aluminium industries, including fabricators and manufacturers.

Touching on the selection of ARISE Integrated Industrial Platforms as a partner, the GIADEC CEO said the company was chosen based on its proven track record in developing and operating industrial parks across Africa, including projects in Rwanda, Kenya, Côte d’Ivoire, and Benin.

According to him, ARISE brings the technical expertise, capital, and global industrial networks required to ensure the project’s competitiveness and long-term success.

Ankrah also disclosed that the project is already attracting strong international investor interest.

He revealed that discussions are ongoing with an Italian firm considering a €300 million investment in an aluminium rolling plant, while several Chinese firms are exploring downstream aluminium investments expected to be located within the industrial park.

He further indicated that, as part of feasibility validation, a high-powered Ghanaian delegation visited ARISE industrial parks in Benin to assess operations and economic outcomes before advancing the partnership.

Ankrah stressed that the industrial park is expected to deepen Ghana’s aluminium value chain, promote value addition, reduce raw material exports, and create significant employment opportunities.

He urged the media to support efforts to project accurate information about the project, warning that misinformation about land sales could undermine strategic national industrialisation efforts.

The ARISE–GIADEC–TDC Industrial Park Project is expected to serve as a major driver of Ghana’s long-term industrial growth and economic transformation agenda.
