Former Member of Parliament for Tema East, Daniel Nii Kwartei Titus-Glover, has criticised Victoria Duncan-Williams, sister of the Founder and General Overseer of Action Chapel International Ministry, Archbishop Nicholas Duncan-Williams, over comments she made about New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer Dr Mahamudu Bawumia.
Victoria Duncan-Williams, a known supporter of presidential hopeful Kennedy Agyapong, reportedly made the remarks after the former Assin Central MP lost the NPP presidential primaries to Dr Bawumia on January 31, 2026.
In her comment, she suggested that Dr Bawumia could never become President of Ghana because of religious demographics in the country.
“Bawumia can never be president in this country, mark it somewhere. We are 75 percent Christians, Muslims are 14 percent, and the other religions make up 11 percent. There is no way a majority will allow a minority to lead, “she said.
However, Titus-Glover expressed disapproval of the statement, arguing that it promotes religious division and undermines Ghana’s long-standing culture of religious tolerance.
Why Kennedy Agyapong is 'bitter' - Hohoe MP explains
According to him, even Archbishop Nicholas Duncan-Williams would not be pleased with his sister’s comments.
Speaking in an interview on Metro TV’s Good Morning Ghana on February 5, 2026, Titus-Glover described the remarks as unfortunate and called on Victoria Duncan-Williams to be more civil in her public commentary.
“Look at Bishop Dr Williams’ sister. She is trying to knock the heads of Muslims and Christians together. That’s quite unfortunate. And I’m not happy, her brother, the Bishop will not be comfortable with the statement she made,” he said.
He emphasised that both Christians and Muslims are children of God and highlighted the shared values that bind Ghanaians together.
“A Muslim and a Christian are all children of God. Abraham gave birth to Ishmael before Isaac. They are all from God. One beautiful thing about this country is that Muslims and Christians see themselves as one people. We attend the same schools, we intermarry, and we do the same work.”
He added, “If Dr Williams’ sister is saying Christians should not vote for Dr Bawumia, then where do you draw the line? If a Muslim medical doctor is treating a Christian pregnant woman, should she refuse treatment because of religion? What kind of logic is that?
“…if because of friendship you want to support Kennedy Agyapong, you need to be civil. You need to speak well. You don’t create division between Muslims and Christians.”
“…when we do this, we destroy the beauty of our country. She must come back and apologise to Ghanaians. What wrong has Dr Bawumia done? Is he not a human being? Didn’t he come from the womb of a woman? It’s not nice. It’s just too bad.”
