The Minerals Commission of Ghana on Friday, January 30, 2026, welcomed the Minister of Lands and Natural Resources, Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah, Member of Parliament for Ellembelle, during his annual working visit to the Commission.

The visit formed part of a strategic engagement aimed at reviewing the performance of the mining sector and strengthening policy coordination across Ghana’s minerals value chain. It also provided an opportunity to assess ongoing reforms and ensure the Commission’s activities align with government priorities for the sector.

The Minister was accompanied by the Deputy Minister of Lands and Natural Resources, Yusif Sulemana, Member of Parliament for Bole-Bamboi. Their presence highlighted the government’s continued commitment to effective land administration, regulatory efficiency, and the sustainable development of Ghana’s mineral resources.

Also in attendance were the Chairman of the Board of the Minerals Commission, William Ntow Boahene (Esq.), and other distinguished Board members.

The engagement coincided with the Commission’s first Board meeting of the year, which focused on the sector’s outlook, regulatory reforms, operational priorities, and strategic measures to promote responsible mining, local content participation, investment facilitation, and environmental protection.

Discussions centered on strengthening compliance mechanisms, enhancing transparency, accelerating formalisation within the mining sector, improving stakeholder collaboration, and aligning institutional programmes with the government’s broader economic transformation agenda.

Management and staff of the Commission expressed appreciation to the Minister, his Deputy, and the Board for their leadership and continued support, reaffirming their commitment to building a modern, efficient, and globally competitive regulatory framework for Ghana’s minerals industry.
