The Ministry of Education has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with QG Construction UK Limited to develop an Institute of Green and Sustainable Science and Technology at the Acherensua Campus of the University of Engineering and Agricultural Sciences (UEAS), Bunso.

The partnership represents a significant step toward strengthening Ghana’s capacity in green innovation, sustainable engineering, climate-smart agriculture, and technology-driven solutions, aligning with the government’s commitment to sustainable development and environmental responsibility.

The proposed Institute is expected to serve as a centre of excellence for research, training, and innovation in green and sustainable technologies, with a strong focus on practical, industry-relevant solutions to Ghana’s development challenges.

Speaking on the importance of the collaboration, the Minister for Education, Haruna Iddrisu, underscored the need to align tertiary education with emerging global trends, particularly in sustainability, climate action, and environmentally responsible industrial practices.

The partnership with QG Construction UK Limited is also expected to leverage private sector expertise and investment to support infrastructure development and knowledge transfer at UEAS.

The Ministry reaffirmed its commitment to fostering strategic partnerships that enhance the quality, relevance, and impact of tertiary education while contributing to national development priorities and Ghana’s green transition agenda.
