The Nsawam District Police Command has arrested five suspected kidnappers following an intelligence-led operation that led to the rescue of two men who were allegedly abducted while traveling from Accra to Anyinam.
The Police said the incident was reported on January 10, 2026, at about 3:20 p.m., when information reached the Command that the victims had been kidnapped and moved to an unknown location.
The suspects were said to have demanded a ransom of GH¢400,000 from the victims’ family before their release.
According to the Police, negotiations between the family and the kidnappers resulted in a demand for an initial deposit of GH¢5,000, a development that enabled security personnel to plan an operation to track and apprehend the suspects.

“The suspects were tactically lured to a joint near the Suhum Roundabout, where a joint operation involving officers from Nsawam and Suhum led to their arrest,” a police source said.
The five suspects, identified as Suleman Salifu, Godfred Owusu, Antwi Bismark, Anas Salis and Gyamfi Isaac, were arrested while in an unregistered Acura 4×4 vehicle. The two victims, Seidu Sambiane, 28 and Ibrahim Alhassan, 42, were rescued unharmed.
A search conducted on the vehicle uncovered forged currency notes, cash believed to be part of the ransom payment, a foreign pistol, a cutlass, talismans and amulets, as well as several mobile phones believed to be linked to the crime.
Police say the suspects are currently in custody and assisting with investigations.
“The Ghana Police Service remains committed to protecting lives and property, and we assure the public that all persons involved in this criminal act will be made to face the full rigours of the law,” the source added.
