The government has condemned the physical assault of Class Media Group journalist Samuel Addo, allegedly by personnel of the Ghana National Fire Service.
In an official post on X, on January 5, 2026, the Minister of State in charge of Government Communication, Felix Ofosu Kwakye, described the attack as ‘most unacceptable’ and assured the public that firm action would be taken against the officers responsible.
“The attack on Class Media Group’s Samuel Addo by some personnel of the Ghana National Fire Service is most unacceptable, and I condemn same,” he stated.

This, many believe, emphasises the government’s commitment to protecting press freedom and ensuring accountability.
The incident occurred on Monday, January 5, 2026, while Addo was covering a fire at the Kasoa New Market in the Central Region.
Reports indicate that the journalist was attacked after officials reportedly tried to prevent him from filming the scene.
