The Ashanti Regional Branch of the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) has expressed deep sorrow following the passing of Akwasi Owusu Achiaw, a respected news anchor with OTEC 102.9 FM in Kumasi.

He passed away in the early hours of Friday, December 26, 2025, after a short illness.

In a statement signed by the Ashanti Regional GJA Chairman, Kofi Adu Domfeh, the association extended heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family, colleagues at OTEC FM, and the entire media fraternity.

The GJA described his passing as a great loss to journalism in the Ashanti Region.

Akwasi Owusu Achiaw was widely known for his professionalism, dedication, and calm delivery on air, earning the admiration of colleagues and listeners alike.

His death has left a significant void in the media space.
