The Graduate Unemployed Nurses and Midwives Association has expressed renewed frustration over the government’s prolonged delay in posting its members, some of whom have remained home for up to five years after completing their training.

A planned demonstration for this week was cancelled after the association was unable to finalise security arrangements with the Greater Accra Regional Police Command.

In a citinewsroom.com report on December 10, 2025, it stated that graduate nurse Gamal Osman, who completed his training in 2021, described the extent of the impact of the delay on his livelihood.

“I have been in the house for four years. I completed school in 2021. We are all stranded. Remember, completing school and depending on someone is not easy. How to even buy water is not easy,” he said.

The association added that many of its members are facing increasing financial and emotional strain as they wait for placement into the health sector, the report added.

It maintains that it will continue to explore all lawful avenues to demand the posting of its members until the government takes action.
