The mother of Ghana’s youngest brand ambassador, Asesewa Princess, has shared her reflections on parenting in the digital era as her daughter turns two and renews her contract with Flora Kids Baby Diapers.
Speaking at the event in Accra on Friday November 21, 2025, Mrs Barbara Annoh, mother of the toddler, noted that many African parents are often hesitant to showcase their children online due to safety concerns. However, she believes social media has played a crucial role in creating opportunities for her daughter.
“As Africans, we have the fear of putting our children on the internet. But now we are in a social media era, and I think that is how she became known and was called to do this work,” she said.
“If she was hidden, I don’t think she would have gotten this opportunity as brand ambassador of Flora Kids Baby Diapers. We always pray that God keeps her and protects her. With God, all things are possible.”
Mrs Annoh described the experience as a blessing for their family and expressed pride in her daughter’s growth and achievements.
Also addressing mothers at the gathering was Priscilla Adu, a midwife who frequently works with families to promote infant health.
She emphasized the importance of knowing what to look out for when choosing diapers, explaining that many cases of discomfort and nappy rash stem from selecting the wrong size or failing to change diapers regularly.
According to her, parents should pay attention to the baby’s weight, the diaper’s material, softness, breathability and the adjustability of the tapes.
“Every diaper has the baby’s weight printed on the packaging. If the diaper is too small or too big, you will experience leakages,” she said.
“It’s not always about the brand. You also need to know when to change the diaper. Babies cannot talk, so parents must check often.”
She noted that poor hygiene practices and infrequent changes can worsen nappy rash, making babies uncomfortable and affecting their sleep and feeding patterns.
Priscilla Adu further encouraged young mothers to pay close attention to hygiene, including washing hands before and after changing diapers and ensuring reusable cloths or napkins are properly washed, dried and ironed before use.
She explained that maintaining proper hygiene and selecting suitable baby products help prevent irritations and discomfort, contributing to the child’s overall well-being.
“A fussy baby who cannot sleep or play comfortably becomes a challenge for the parent. Hygiene and the right diapering practices are key,” she added.
