The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, has announced that the reduced passport application fee of GH¢350 takes effect on Thursday, November 13, 2025, making it more affordable for Ghanaians to obtain new passports or renew existing ones.
Taking to his Facebook page, he wrote, "The 30% passport application fee reduction (from GH¢500 to GH¢350) has come into effect since midnight. We keep our promises. For God and country."

The new pricing follows Cabinet and Parliamentary approval of the revised fees regulations.
It aligns with President John Dramani Mahama's directive to ease the financial burden on citizens while maintaining high-quality standards in passport production.

The reduction applies to all new passport applications, and those renewing passports will also benefit.
The revised fee structure supports Ghanaians who require official identification for travel, business, and other international engagements, reflecting the government's ongoing efforts to ease the cost of essential services.
