Kuipers Breeders Ghana has announced plans to expand its production capacity and strengthen Ghana’s self-sufficiency in poultry breeding.
According to company representative Prince Munya, the farm currently houses 60,000 breeders, capable of producing approximately seven million day-old chicks annually, meeting Ghana’s estimated national demand for layer chicks.
“We have capacity on the farm for 60,000 breeders, and those breeders produce about seven million day-old chicks each year, which roughly matches Ghana’s annual demand for layer chicks. We’ve also begun exporting to neighboring countries, including Togo, and we’re looking forward to expanding into Benin, Nigeria, and Ivory Coast, if policies permit,” Munya explained.
Speaking in an interview with GhanaWeb on the sidelines of the 2025 Africa Best Business Awards in Accra on November 7, 2025, Munya noted that despite these achievements, the company continues to face significant challenges, particularly in engaging with local farmers.

He said Kuipers remains optimistic about delivering high-quality and reliable services to meet market needs and build stronger relationships with local farmers.
“Interestingly, people are still skeptical about buying local chicks because some have had bad experiences in the past. But our mandate and encouragement are to keep pushing our quality brand, which we believe will help us reach the seven-million target for the Ghanaian market. So far, things are going quite well, and we are gradually getting more farmers to buy locally and believe in the Ghanaian brand,” he added.
The 2025 edition of the Africa Best Business Awards (ABBA) honoured more than 30 of the continent’s most innovative and resilient companies and entrepreneurs for their contributions to Africa’s economic transformation.
Held under the theme “Honouring Business Brilliance, Shaping Africa's Future,” the ceremony celebrated excellence in innovation, sustainability, ethical leadership, and cross-border impact.
The event was organised by Delve Afrique Communications and Maven Communications, with support from Zeliatte Media.
