The Spokesperson of the National Chief Imam, Sheikh Armiyawo Shaibu, has disclosed that the wife of the late Alhaji Muniru Lumina had been planning a birthday surprise for her husband on Friday, August 8, 2025, when he would have turned 59.

Speaking on JoyNews on Friday, August 8, 2025, Shaibu said that the bereaved wife had begun preparations for her late husband's surprise birthday, moving around to buy materials to be sewn for him before he tragically died in the crash.

He shared that the wife has been deeply devastated and heartbroken since the news of the incident broke.

“She was planning to surprise him with a birthday today, Friday. That was her plan that she was going to surprise him. She was moving all around the place with her other friend to buy materials and to take it to a tailor to be sewn for her husband. So, you can see how this really will be a matter for anyone to go through such a pain and agony,” he said.

Sheikh Shaibu also mentioned that the Chief Imam, during a visit to their residence, did not only pray for her but also offered words of comfort as he commiserated with the family.

“We drove straight to the residence of Alhaji Muniru Limuna where we coincidentally met the Quran being recited to invoke God's mercy and then we participated in that. The Chief Imam led the final part of the prayer.

“We had a chance to meet with the widow and the Chief Imam, gave her some words of consolation to strengthen her as she goes through this very hard and agonising time of having to lose her husband, with whom she had parted on a farewell basis that he was just travelling to come back,” he added.
