Former Greater Accra Regional Minister, Titus Glover, has asserted that the recent demolition of a warehouse belonging to renowned Ghanaian entrepreneur Daniel McKorley, popularly known as McDan, was politically motivated.
Glover indicated that the conduct of the national security personnel involved in the operation raised suspicions, particularly due to the lack of direct communication with the National Security Coordinator during the exercise.
“My intel tells me that the National Security Coordinator’s phone was off at the very moment they began the demolition,” he stated during an interview on Joy Prime.
According to the former Tema East MP, individuals within the current Mahama-led administration are attempting to assert their authority over the businessman, who is widely perceived to be aligned with the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
Speaking on McDan’s political affiliation, Glover clarified, “He is not NPP.”
When asked why McDan would be targeted, he responded, “It’s politics… Somebody wanted to show force because the NDC is in power. So, let’s show you where power lies.”
The warehouse, located along Spintex Road near Action Chapel, was demolished by operatives believed to be affiliated with national security late Monday evening around 7:00 p.m.
The operation has stirred considerable public debate. Sources suggest the demolition stemmed from a legal dispute between the McDan Group and the Ghana Airports Company Limited (GACL) over ownership of the land.
In a press release dated July 30, 2025, GACL announced that it had regained control of over 16 acres of prime airport land following a ruling by the Accra High Court in its favor against subsidiaries of the McDan Group.
The court judgment granted GACL full re-entry and possession of two parcels of land measuring approximately 10.63 acres and 5.66 acres.
These parcels, located near Kotoka International Airport and adjacent to Action Chapel International, had been leased since 2012 to McDan Shipping Company and Airport Logistics Limited, both subsidiaries of the McDan Group.
Daniel McKorley is widely recognised for his contributions to Ghana’s logistics and aviation sectors, as well as for his investments in youth development and entrepreneurship.
