Avatime Vane, a community in the Ho-West District of Ghana's Volta Region, is making strides toward securing safe and reliable drinking water following the initiation of a local water project.

The project, which includes the construction of boreholes, installation of reservoir tanks, pipelines, water treatment systems, and associated labour, has been made possible through a combination of community levies, appeals, and support from benefactors at home and abroad.

Mr. Samuel Aboni, a native of Avatime Amedzofe, commended the Avatime Vane Citizens Association (VACA) for their leadership in bringing the project to life.

Speaking on behalf of Avatime citizens based in the United Kingdom, he expressed the group’s solidarity with development efforts in their homeland and encouraged residents to maintain a spirit of collective responsibility in advancing local initiatives.

During a brief presentation ceremony, Mr. Aboni handed over a symbolic cheque of £2,000 to VACA Chairman Mr. Peter Bosrotsi, who expressed gratitude on behalf of the Association, traditional leaders, and the entire community.

He acknowledged the significance of the external support and affirmed that the contribution would go a long way toward addressing water challenges in the area.

For the past five years, the UK-based Avatime community has quietly supported development initiatives across the seven Avatime towns; Amedzofe, Gbadzeme, Fume, Dzokpe, Biakpa, Dzogbefeme, and Vane. Their efforts include donations to healthcare facilities during the COVID-19 pandemic and financial assistance for road rehabilitation in 2024.
