The New Patriotic Party Minority in Parliament has called on the leadership of the Majority side to ensure that their members attend sessions to conduct business in the House.

According to the Minority, it is rather embarrassing that the Majority, despite their significant numbers, struggles to muster enough members to meet the constitutionally required quorum to conduct business.

“They are struggling to assemble their numbers to come to the House to do business. Today, what we have seen is just embarrassing. We are here to do business, but they couldn’t marshal their numbers. How long will this continue on this tangent? We want Ghanaians to know and to tell our friends from the NDC to take Ghanaians seriously and to take the business of the House seriously because Ghanaians expect a lot from us. They want us to meet their needs and aspirations. When this behavior continues unchecked, it is not going to help us advance this nation. So, we are just asking the Majority Leader, the Leader of Government Business, and the front bench to up their game to ensure that we transact business to benefit the Ghanaians who voted us into the House to seek their business and wellbeing,” said Kingsley Nyarko, MP for Kwadaso, who led a press conference for the caucus on Friday.

His comment was after the Minority Caucus has called for an adjournment of the House for a lack of quorum.

At the commencement of the sitting on Friday, March 7, 2025, the Kwadaso MP, citing Article 102 as well as the Standing Orders of the House, moved the Speaker to adjourn the House due to a lack of quorum.

His request led to a brief exchange between the two caucuses, after which the Second Deputy Speaker, Bernard Ahiafor, who was presiding, adjourned the House for a few minutes to consult with leadership over the matter.
