A former Member of Parliament of Kumbungu, Ras Mubarak, has expressed his disapproval and outrage over the developing situation at the State Insurance Company Limited (SIC) PLC, where the former MD has sued the company and refused to hand over to her successor.

Hollistar Duah-Yentumi has sued the company and her replacement, James Agyenim-Boateng, who was appointed by President John Dramani Mahama, after accusing the company of wrongfully terminating her contract.

She has also locked the office with the keys reportedly in her possession, preventing her successor, James Agyenim-Boateng, from gaining access to the premises.

She is demanding, among other benefits, GH₵840,000 annual salary as captured in her suit.

Reacting to the incident in a Facebook post on February 6, 2025, Ras Mubarak slammed the government, questioning why they had allowed an individual to hold a state institution to ransom.

According to the former NDC lawmaker, immediate action must be taken to remove her from office, calling for a possible arrest and prosecution if that would help resolve the situation.

“We can’t allow one greedy woman to hold an entire state institution hostage. Just order security not to allow her in the premises, order her to hand over public property or face arrest and prosecution, take down the door, and have the police take inventory. We are too nice for our own good,” he wrote.

Meanwhile, Duah-Yentumi has come under scrutiny, with critics questioning her opposition to her removal from office, especially given that she was appointed under the former Akufo-Addo government and a new government has since taken power.
