NPP Concocted Mass Bus Rape?

.. It's Absolute Nonsense Says Jake

The opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), has angrily hit back at the ruling government describing accusations that the party masterminded the mass bus rape story as "absolute balderdash", 'nonsense" and "rubbish".

National Chairman of the NPP, Jake Obetsebi-Lamptey, who rather described the NDC as being "among the biggest liars in the country", questioned what the NPP will gain from creating "panic" among the public by orchestrating the story.

The Central Regional Director of Communications for the NDC, Ben Allotey Jacobs, in an interview on Citi Eyewitness News on Monday, November 1st, accused the opposition NPP of deliberately concocting the story to create the impression that the country was unsafe, and also to cause disaffection for Government, adding that it is the hallmark of the NPP to character assassinate its political opponents.

The former Central Regional Propaganda Secretary failed to back his allegations with any substantive evidence, but maintained that the entire story was "covertly" planned, since over two-thirds (2/3) of the Ghanaian populace share the belief that "this is another hand work of the NPP".

"You see things that are done covertly, it is hard to get evidence.the NPP is so frustrated and they are desperate for power and would go every length, I am telling you 80% of Ghanaians believe that this is the handiwork of the NPP," he claimed.

But in a quick rebuttal on CitiFM, the NPP National Chair dismissed Mr. Allotey Jacobs' assertions as hogwash, stressing that his party has no hand in Amina's account of the mass bus rape incident.

"This is absolute nonsense, balderdash, bogus and rubbish.that is our reaction to that nonsense that they are talking. We cannot condone people going on-air to tell lies to the nation. We do not accept lies and do not condone lies. We cannot approve anything Amina has done...It does not lie in the, mouth of people like Allotey Jacobs or anybody in the NDC to start condemning people for lying when they themselves are amongst the biggest liars in this nation," he stated.

He continued, "...what will anybody gain by it? What will anybody gain by throwing panic into the people of this country? I think what he is saying is the ploy of a mad man almost. To be accusing a responsible political party...of resorting to that sort of nonsensical behaviour...," he added.
