Nana Konadu robbed at Takoradi Hotel

When Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings, President of the 31st December Women’s Movement (31ST DWM) bid farewell to her sweetheart, former President Rawlings, jumped into her cross country vehicle en-route to the Western Region to promote her ambition of becoming president of Ghana, little did she know that her journey would end on a sordid not.

Information picked up by The Chronicle indicates that whilst the former first lady was busily defending the legacies of her husband, after she had arrived safely in Takoradi, and throwing jabs at the current President, John Evan Atta Mills, for allegedly stealing her husband’ ideas in the studios of Kyzz FM, a waiter at the hotel she was lodging was also busily doing ‘justice’ to the large campaign money she had left in her handbag.

The waiter, who was only named as Williams, allegedly stole into Konadu’s executive suite, under the guise of working in the room, and succeeded in filling the bag he was holding with all the money the tough speaking former first lady had stashed in her bag.

The Chronicle sources at the hotel hinted that when Nana Konadu returned to her room after the radio interview and discovered the theft, she went bonkers, and complained bitterly to the owner of the hotel, one Anita Mensah, who is said to the a family friend, but before the latter could utter a word, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) first Vice Chairperson had already started packing her belongings, and angrily walked out of the hotel to lodge in another one.

Distressed Anita Mensah, according the source, quickly fired the waiter, and reported the matter t o the Takoradi police, who later picked up the suspect, and have since begun investigations into the case.

Unimpeachable sources also confided in The Chronicle that as a result of the theft, Konadu had to cut short her visit to the region, and rushed only to Elubo where she reportedly resorted to a silver collection after meeting cadres.

The Takoradi District Crime Officer, Mr. Dela Dzansi, confirmed the story, and added that the police, after questioning the suspect, had forwarded the docket of the case to the Attorney General’s office for advice.

He added that incident was not the only one reported to his outfit, and that there had been a series of theft cases in which the suspect was alleged to be involved. According to Dzansi, a vehicle and other personal properties belonging to the suspect have been seized by the police.
