Bakatue to end ban on fishing in Fosu Lagoon held

Cape Coast, Sept. 1, GNA - A colourful ceremony of net-casting was held on the banks of the Fosu Lagoon on Tuesday to signify the lifting of the ban on fishing and noise making imposed about a month ago to commence activities of the Oguaa Fetu Afahye Festival of the chief and people of the area.

It was witnessed by a large number of people including tourists who cheered as a gun was fired three times and the Adontenhen's net cast in lagoon three times to determine the type of harvest in store for the area this year.

The quantity of fish caught would indicate whether there will be bumper or lean harvest, fortunately the Adontenhen's net had quite a large catch this year, indicating that there will be bumper harvest of both foodstuff and fish.

Libation was poured amidst incantations by the Adontenhen of Oguaa Traditional Area, Nana Kwamina Nyimfa IX, asking for the blessings of the gods on Oguaaman and its people for a fruitful and successful year.
