Government set to tackle Eastern Corridor link road - Mabengba

Zabzugu (NR) July 1, GNA - Government has secured funds to start work on the major that would link Volta, Northern and Upper East Regions on the eastern part of the country, Mr Moses Bukari Mabengba, Northern Regional Minister, has announced. This, he said would facilitate the smooth transportation of passengers and foodstuffs to urban centres in both the northern and southern parts of Ghana.

Mr Mabengba made this known when he attended the funeral of the Zabzugu /Tatale Constituency Secretary of National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr Mohammed Salifu Adam, at Zabzugu in the Northern Region at the weekend. The Regional Minister indicated that other key roads within the Eastern corridor of the Region would also be considered for construction when funds were available.

He assured the people of Zabzugu/Tatale District that Government would soon rehabilitate the road from Zabzugu/Tatale to Yendi because a lot of foodstuff was being produced in the area.

Delivering a message of condolence to the bereaved family, Mr Mabengba described the deceased as a dedicated young man and said it was rather unfortunate that after toiling hard for the NDC to win the 2008 elections, the late Mohammed should die so soon. "But God knows best", he added. He indicated that it was because the late Mr Mohammed's good and affable character that people from all the sides of the political divide, Metropolitan Municipal and District chief Executives, Security personnel, and Assembly members, among others, had attended the funeral in their numbers to support his family. He urged all present to emulate the lifestyle of the late Constituency Secretary. Mr Mabengba presented 10 crates of soft drinks, four bags of rice, and a cash of GHc2,200 on behalf of the party to the bereaved family. 01 July 10
