President Mills lauds Singaporean discipline

Accra, June 30, GNA - President John Evans Atta Mills on Wednesday lauded Singaporean discipline and her expertise in the construction of th e Kwame Nkrumah Floating, Production, Storage and Offloading, (FPSO) facili ty. The facility, now anchored at the Jubilee Fields in Takoradi in the Western Region, sets the tone for the production of oil by the last quart er of this year.

In a chat with Mr Gian Chin Toon, Singaporean High Commissioner to Ghana in Accra, President Mills lauded the growing bilateral relations between Ghana and Singapore.

He said government would continue to pursue initiatives that would inure to the mutual benefit of both nations. Mr Toon, who resides in Singapore, but with oversight on Ghana, paid a courtesy call on President Mills, at the Osu Castle during which they discussed issues of mutual interest. President Mills observed that there was growing interest among some Ghanaians in Singapore, and what was needed was to create the enabling environment for business and investment to thrive between the two nations .. He said the visit by Mr Toon, signified an enhanced relations with Ghana. President Mills mentioned in particular, the agricultural sector whe re there could be transfer and exchange of expertise. Mr Toon brought greetings from President Sellapan Ramanathan of Singapore to the Government and people of Ghana. He spoke of some Singaporean initiatives and programmes for Africa, adding an African Business Forum had been organised.
