Vandals to Petition Veep

Ghananewslink.com can exclusively report that JCR Executive of the Commonwealth Hall of the University of Ghana, Legon will on Wednesday the 5th of May, 2010 at exactly 12 noon call on the Vice President His Excellency John Dramani Mahama himself a Vandal to present a petition on behalf of Vandals to Government against the intended closure of the Hall by the University Authorities.

The hall is to be converted into a mixed gender hall for Post-Graduate students in the next academic year commencing August 2010.

Ghananewslink.com can also reveal that the JCR President's of Volta, Legon, Akuafo and Sarbah Halls will join the Vandal Leadership in solidarity. Our checks also indicate that the NUGS President will also join the high powered student delegation.

According to sources close to the university, the Executive Committee of the university took the decision after some students of the Hall allegedly heckled former United Nations Secretary-General, Mr Kofi Annan and some dignitaries during this year’s congregation ceremony.

What is clear to ghananewslink.com is that the University of Ghana Authorities might be in for a battle of their lives if they insist on this decision considering that the University appears isolated in this matter. Already Old Vandals have kicked against it and have fixed a Friday Night Meeting at the IRS Guest House to strategise.

Another important factor that worsens the plight of the University Authorities is the fact that many prominent Vandals are holding key positions in the present government. Apart from the Vice President, the National Security Coordinator Lft. Col. Larry Gbevlo Lartey, the Communications Minister, Hon. Haruna Iddrisu, a Deputy Information Minister, Hon. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, GNPC Board Chairman, Mr. Ato Ahwoi and his junior brother Mr. Kwamina Ahwoi, an advisor to President Mills amongst others, and so if the quintessential vandal spirit and solidarity is to be expected, you can be sure that vandals will be resolute and relentless in confronting the university authorities ironically led by an old Vandal Prof. C.N.B. Tagoe who some Vandals have described as a traitor.
