Komenda launches development plan

Komenda (C/R), Jan. 25, GNA - Dr. Joseph Annan, the Deputy Minister of Education, has launched a 10-year development plan for Komenda and said t= he defunct sugar factory would be revamped.

He said a feasibility study on the factory had been completed and discussions were underway to strategize on how to source funds to revive it. Dr. Annan said at a forum on the plan that other projects captured i= n the plan include the construction of a police station, a library with ICT=

attached to it, places of convenience and the extension of electricity to=

communities. Dr. Annan, the Member of Parliament for Komenda-Edina-Eguafo-Abrem, expressed his gratitude to the people of Komenda for turning up in their numbers for the programme and appealed to them to cooperate with the government to ensure development for the area. On what he has been able to do since he was elected MP, he told the peo= ple that he had supplied 400 dual desks to some basic schools in the constituency through the GETFund and has also supplied 30 laptop computer= s to Ghasel Primary School.

Dr. Annan said he had also awarded scholarships to 30 students at junior and senior high school levels whiles some feeder roads had been rehabilitated. The forum was presided over by Mr Sam Awortwe, a former police commissioner, now a legal practitioner and was attended by chiefs, opinio= n leaders, assembly members, the youth and residents. Later, Mr Joseph Aggrey Cudjoe, secretary of Komenda Landing Beach Committee, said from June to December 2009, the committee made a net prof= it of GH¢5,700 from the sale of premix as against GH¢3,300 during the sa= me period in 2008.
