Government to re-open Worawora Nurses Training College

Ho, Jan. 12, GNA - Government is to re-open Worawora Nurses Training College as a Midwifery Training College and this will be in addition to a planned Nurses Training College at Kete-Krachi, Mr Joseph Amenowode, Volta Regional Minister, said on Tuesday. He said this at a forum organized by the Africa Center For Social Development (AFRICED-Ghana) with support from the University of Massachusetts Lowell in the US.

Mr Amenowode said government knew the importance of good health and was doing all to support the sector. He therefore reiterated the call on nurses and other health workers to be professional in their work to enable the country achieve the Millennium Development Goals.

Mr Amenowode appealed to nurses to be tolerant and caring at all times irrespective of provocations from patients. "In spite of work pressure and provocations from patients, nurses must not be arrogant and intolerant as professional caregivers," he advised. Professor Valerie King, Leader of student nurses from the University, urged nurses to be compassionate and seek continuous education to enhance their professionalism.

She called for more in-service training for nurses to enhance their professional skills. 12 Jan. 10
